Accessibility Policy

The mission of J.W. MacIntosh Community Support Services is to deliver safe and affordable housing and innovative, timely and high quality community support services to seniors and adults with disabilities in Dundas County and surrounding areas.

Our commitment in fulfilling our mission is to strive at all times to provide our goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We are also committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our goods and services and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other customers.

Reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that:

  1. Persons with disabilities are provided equal opportunity to obtain, use and benefit from the organization’s goods and services;
  2. Goods and services are provided in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities;
  3. The goods and services provided to persons with disabilities are integrated with the provision to others unless an alternative measure is necessary to allow a person with a disability to benefit; the alternative measure may be temporary or permanent;
  4. Communications with a person with a disability are conducted in a manner that takes the person’s disability into account;
  5. Persons with disabilities may use assistive devices, service animals and support persons as is necessary to access the organization’s goods and services unless superseded by other legislation.

Assistive devices:

The Corporation is committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use or benefit from our goods and services. The Corporation will ensure that staff members are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services.

The Corporation will make every effort to ensure that our staff are trained on how to interact with individuals using various assistive devices.

The following assistive devices are available on our premises: automatic door openers at entrances, wheelchair accessible washrooms, and microphone and speaker system.

Billing:

The Corporation is committed to providing accessible invoices to all customers. For this reason, invoices will be provided in the following formats upon request: hard copy, large print, email.

The Corporation will answer any questions customers may have about the content of the invoice in person, by telephone or email.

Use of service animals and support persons:

The Corporation is committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and other third parties.

The Corporation will make every effort to ensure that our staff, volunteers and others dealing with the public are properly trained in how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal.

The Corporation is committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. Any person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter Williamsburg Non-Profit Housing Corporation premises with his or her support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person while on our premises. Support persons will be responsible for their own meals where appropriate and as stated in our services and fees flyer.

J.W. MacIntosh Community Support Services welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
